Artist statement

In my artistic practice, I explore the intricate intersections between anxiety, courage, and the mystical, using art as a means to confront existential fears, question the boundaries of the self, and engage with the unknown. The mystical experience in my work is not merely an abstract concept but an encounter with the numinous—a presence that is both awe-inspiring and terrifying. These experiences are complex and multifaceted, marked by a simultaneous sense of clarity and uncertainty, of light and shadow. In these moments, I recognize the ineffable forces that shape our lives—forces that are as overwhelming as they are liberating. This duality—the simultaneous experience of illumination and fear—is the essence of the numinous: a presence that both draws us in and confronts us with our deepest vulnerabilities. It is a confrontation with what lies beyond the boundaries of the self, where both liberation and annihilation seem to coexist.

For me, anxiety is not merely a discomfort to be avoided; it is a transformative force. It arises when we face the infinite possibilities of existence and the weight of responsibility—the "dizziness of freedom." Rather than repressing or denying this anxiety, I embrace it as a catalyst for creativity. Through art, I externalize my fears and uncertainties, transforming them into generative forces for both introspection and exploration.

Art becomes the space where I make visible the tension between the numinous and the human condition. It is not an escape from the world, but a deeper engagement with it. In this space, I seek meaning in places where it might seem absent or unreachable. I aim to reframe the struggle with existence—not as something to avoid, but as a site of possibility, where both personal and collective liberation can emerge through a deeper engagement with life’s uncertainties.

Courage plays a crucial role in this process. It is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to act in spite of it. Each piece I create becomes an act of defiance, a statement of resilience in the face of the unknown. Through my work, I seek to evoke the courage needed to live authentically, to challenge the boundaries imposed by both the self and society, and to embrace the freedom that emerges from this negotiation. Art becomes a space for personal and collective renewal, where both individual and shared experiences can be explored.

In these moments of creation, I aim to foster contemplation and dialogue about the ways we relate to, influence, and are influenced by the world around us—both the living, breathing ecosystem that sustains us, and the ever-evolving cultural frameworks that shape our identities, beliefs, and actions. I delve into the mystical dimensions of existence, capturing the liminal spaces where the self dissolves, and where the sacred and the mundane coexist. My multidisciplinary practice becomes a way to explore the tension between the finite and the infinite, the known and the unknown, offering a space where transformation can emerge from chaos and uncertainty.

My work is an ongoing exploration of how we navigate anxiety, find strength in vulnerability, and open ourselves to the transformative potential of the mystical. Through this process, I continue to negotiate my own identity and relationships, confronting both personal and collective anxieties. And in the end, the numinous reveals itself—not as a solution to suffering, but as a profound encounter with life’s most fundamental mysteries.

Through the process of creation, I burn away the impurities of the ego and the distractions of the world. I discover a deeper connection to my true nature—a nature that is free, fluid, and ever-changing.

The works, once completed, embodie the integration of conscious and unconscious objects, as the finished pieces reflect the synthesis of various elements and tensions that were explored during their creation. The completed artworks become a symbol of internal reconciliation and of growth.

Na minha prática artística, exploro as intrincadas interseções entre a ansiedade, a coragem e o místico, utilizando a arte como meio para confrontar os medos existenciais, questionar os limites do eu e interagir com o desconhecido. A experiência mística no meu trabalho não é apenas um conceito abstrato, mas um encontro com o numinoso—uma presença que é simultaneamente arrebatadora e aterradora. Estas experiências são complexas e multifacetadas, marcadas por um sentido simultâneo de clareza e incerteza, de luz e sombra. Nestes momentos, reconheço as forças inefáveis que moldam as nossas vidas—forças que são tão avassaladoras quanto libertadoras. Esta dualidade—experienciar simultaneamente a iluminação e o medo—é a essência do numinoso: uma presença que nos atrai e nos confronta com as nossas vulnerabilidades mais profundas. É um confronto com o que está além dos limites do eu, onde tanto a libertação como a aniquilação parecem coexistir.

Para mim, a ansiedade não é apenas um desconforto a evitar; é uma força transformadora. Surge quando enfrentamos as possibilidades infinitas da existência e o peso da responsabilidade—a "vertigem da liberdade". Em vez de reprimir ou negar esta ansiedade, aceito-a como um catalisador para a criatividade. Através da arte, externalizo os meus medos e incertezas, transformando-os em forças geradoras para introspeção e exploração.

A arte torna-se o espaço onde torno visível a tensão entre o numinoso e a condição humana. Não é uma fuga do mundo, mas um envolvimento mais profundo com ele. Neste espaço, procuro significado em lugares onde ele possa parecer ausente ou inalcançável. O meu objetivo é reconfigurar a luta com a existência—não como algo a evitar, mas como um local de possibilidade, onde tanto a libertação pessoal como coletiva podem emergir através de um envolvimento mais profundo com as incertezas da vida.

A coragem desempenha um papel crucial neste processo. Não é a ausência de medo, mas a disposição para agir apesar dele. Cada peça que crio torna-se um ato de desafio, uma afirmação de resiliência perante o desconhecido. Através do meu trabalho, procuro evocar a coragem necessária para viver de forma autêntica, desafiar os limites impostos tanto pelo eu como pela sociedade, e abraçar a liberdade que emerge dessa negociação. A arte torna-se um espaço para a renovação pessoal e coletiva, onde tanto as experiências individuais como as partilhadas podem ser exploradas.

Nestes momentos de criação, busco fomentar a contemplação e o diálogo sobre as formas como nos relacionamos com o mundo ao nosso redor, como o influenciamos e como somos influenciados por ele—tanto o ecossistema vivo e respirante que nos sustenta, como as estruturas culturais em constante evolução que moldam as nossas identidades, crenças e ações. Mergulho nas dimensões místicas da existência, capturando os espaços liminais onde o eu se dissolve e onde o sagrado e o mundano coexistem. A minha prática multidisciplinar torna-se uma forma de explorar a tensão entre o finito e o infinito, o conhecido e o desconhecido, oferecendo um espaço onde a transformação pode emergir do caos e da incerteza.

O meu trabalho é uma exploração contínua de como navegamos pela ansiedade, encontramos força na vulnerabilidade e nos abrimos ao potencial transformador do místico. Através deste processo, continuo a negociar a minha própria identidade e relações, confrontando tanto ansiedades pessoais como as coletivas. E, no final, o numinoso revela-se—não como uma solução para o sofrimento, mas como um encontro profundo com os mistérios mais fundamentais da vida.

Através do processo de criação, queimo as impurezas do ego e as distrações do mundo. Descubro uma conexão mais profunda com a minha verdadeira natureza—uma natureza que é livre, fluida e em constante mudança.

As obras, uma vez concluídas, incorporam a integração de objetos conscientes e inconscientes, pois as peças finalizadas refletem a síntese de vários elementos e tensões que foram explorados durante a sua criação. As obras de arte concluídas tornam-se um símbolo de reconciliação interna e de crescimento.
